When we look at violence in our society, we tend to think that males are perpetrators and females are victims. Well, we got half of that right because 90% of violent crimes are committed by males but what surprises me, and what might surprise you, is that 70% of the victims are males. It’s not that men are being violent in general; it’s that they are being violent to each other. Now, this doesn’t really bug me, maybe because I was grown up to learn that violence between male is acceptable. As a little kid, I have always watched shows that included violence and now that I’m growing older, the display of violence doesn’t stop. It started out from watching Power Rangers to watching action movies like Avatar. Now, the most popular T.V for men is UFC.
Attitude is Everything:
I believe that this ad is suitable for this theme because the model looks like he has a lot of attitude by putting his chin up and grabbing his crotch. He's like a rebel because no guy would grab their crotch like that in public. It's like, if you want to look and be tough as him, you got to have attitude.
The Cave Man Mentality:
I chose this advertisement for this theme because it is using a hero from the roman centurions that is being naturally aggressive.
The New Warriors:
The urban soldier is a great advertisement example of The New Warriors theme because they're displaying a uniformed soldier to enhance the "manliness" of their products. The message here is that violence is cool, suave and acceptable, as consumers are presented with an adventurous, aggressive and violent image of manhood.
Muscles and the "Ideal" Man:
The image above is a perfect example for the Muscles and the "Ideal" Man theme because the advertisers are selling this man's muscular body for people to buy their product. Guys will look at this and this is what they want because he looks so strong.
Heroic Masculinity:
Another advertisement I chose is any advertisements that includes Vin Diesel because this guy is a great Hollywood actor. The chicks dig him, he's got the muscles, he's got the fame, who doesn't want to be Vin Diesel. So advertisers use him to endorse their products.
The producer/storyteller MuchOnDemand is Tim Deagon, Sarah Taylor and Devon Soltendieck. Their purpose is to deliver info on the latest music, fashion, trend spotting and more. MOD(MuchOnDemand) has a daily countdown called the DailyTen where fans vote the best music video of that day and they also have a news component where they report on recent entertainment news which takes about thirty minutes. Some days, the MuchMusic VJs interview a famous celebrity guest along with the audiences. This gives the fan an advantage so that they can get closer to their favourite stars than anywhere else. The fan benefits from the message because they achieve more knowledge about what they need to know about the new pop culture.
The message keeps you updated with the pop culture because it delivers info on the latest music and fashion. The people who are left out of this message are probably the older adults. The healthy messages that are communicated through are that fans can meet their favourite celebrity. The unhealthy message is that you have to think about what others think about you. What makes the messages believable is the young teen audiences and the famous celebrities represented through the show. The lifestyles that are portrayed in this message is the pop culture because of the modern day music they used. Anyone who is interested in music or fashion is served from the message.
The intended target audience are the youths because of the young teens displayed in the audience. The secondary audience is possibly the young adults. I agree with the message and I know what it means because the little things in that show, surrounds the main topic of the message. Other people might interpret the message that the show is awesome to watch because a lot of other teens watches the show also. I know that the show is scripted and not what you think it is on T.V but I don’t know how to get in the audience. I would like to know how much the hosts gets paid or if there’s any other positions that I could possibly get in to in the future. To get more reliable information, you could go on the internet and do a bit of some research. With the information I have obtained from the message, I can do more research on the internet and learn more about the topic.

Our documentary was based on the 60's and everything worked very well. The first thing we had to do was to go to the library and do our research about the decade. Parts of the decade that we had to research was the; music, art, fashion, sports, architecture, entertainment, technology and fads. Once gathered all of our information, we started making our scripts which was very productive. Filming was very quick and easy but at the same time, it was amusing. After filming, we made our storyboard which is a layout of how we were going to edit the video. The most challenging part of this project was the editing. Editing the video took most of our time and everything was going fine until the end. We had to convert the video project file into a general video file that would be playable on any computer such as: .wmv(Windows Movie Player), .mov(Quicktime) or .avi. Everytime we tried to render the rest of the video, the software kept on freezing up. We tried converting it into every video file we can possibly think of but none of them worked. Luckily, we found what the problem was; the software couldn't render the whole video because there were too many different file formats in one project file. Our solution to this problem was to convert everything into .mov file piece by piece. After we convert each file into .mov, we piled everything together and the software finally rendered the project file successfully. The next day was presentation day and our video was a success. It was hard work but at the end, we had this sense of accomplishment.
During presentation day, we get to look at the work of others. A lot of videos looked really entertaining but the one that stood out the most was Thorsten, Raveena and Keertan's video. It stood out because everyone's video was a documentary, however, theirs was like a story. It was very amusing and funny but, I'm not sure if they presented every fraction of the decade. Taken as a whole, I really enjoyed their video. The last video I have to discuss about is Monica, Navi and Lory's video. It looked like they had the most fun making it and they had a lot of props to work with.
I was very impressed of how all the videos ended up. I hope we can have another video project.

Avril Lavigne's single called "Girlfriend" was being criticized that it sounded too much alike to the song "Mickey" by Tony Basil. Later on, Avril Lavigne was sued for Plagiarism by the band, The Rubinoo's, for their song "I Wanna be Your Boyfriend".
In the lyrics of Avril Lavigne's song is "Hey hey you you, I want to be your girlfriend" which is very similar to The Rubinoo's "Hey, you, I wanna be your boyfriend."
Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer, the two song writers of The Rubinoo, filed a lawsuit at California's Northern Federal District Court. Avril's production company and co-writer Dr. Luke have both assigned as the defendants.
Terry Mcbride, the manager of Avril Lavigne, stated that she did not copy the song of The Rubinoo. He said, "This is a song she’d never heard of that was a minor hit before she was born. This is a stretch and there is no basis for it." The Rubinoo's failed to make a comment.
Mcbride was confident that Avril's side was strong and continued that the word "Hey You" has been used in many songs. He added, "We'll look at the cost to defend versus the cost to settle, and we'll make a decision at that time."
Musicologists sat down together to hear both songs and compared notes. They confirmed that Avril's song did not plagiarize the song "I Wanna be Your Boyfriend". McBride then concludes that it's only a form of "legal blackmail".
When I first heard that Avril was being sued for plagiarism, I was probably shocked as much as everyone else. I thought that Avril actually stole someone’s idea until I heard both songs. I listened to both Avril's and The Rubinoo's song and only the chorus sounds a little bit the same. However, everything else is completely different including the lyrics, the rhythm, and the tempo.
When I look at the lyrics, I really don't see any similarities. For the chorus of Girlfriend, the "Hey" and the "You" are written out twice beside each other. "Hey Hey, You You". In the other hand, the chorus of the other song only has "Hey" and "You" written out once.
The rhythm of Girlfriend is very fast and upbeat. The rhythm of I Wanna be Your Boyfriend is slow and calm. But when they both go into chorus, it almost sounds the same.
Girlfriend uses electric guitars and drums with heavy bass which makes it sound more modern. Boyfriend uses an acoustic guitar and drums that sounds like it has no bass at all.
Based on what I have learned, I don't think the copyright has been broken because Avril Lavigne did not plagiarize another song. An artist in the music industry is allowed to use 5% of another song and Avril barely used that five. I can understand why MC Hammer was accused for plagiarizing the song Super freak by Rick James because, both instrumental pieces sound exactly the same.
Whether Avril is guilty or not, I think this will affect her image because when most people here something on the news, they jump to conclusions without doing any research. When I heard that Avril was being sued, I thought that she was running out of ideas and started to steal someone else's idea on a song. However, I was wrong and it turned out that she did not plagiarize a song. It was just a coincidence.

On September 11, 2001, every news station reported that two of the most famous skyscrapers have been collapsed due to a massive explosion that shook North America. On that day, 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial jets and flew two of of the four jets into each of the twin towers killing themselves, along with the passengers on the plane and the workers in the buildings. In New York, everyone was horrified and scared as they were looking up in the skies together. Both buildings collapsed within two hours after the planes have crashed, damaging buildings nearby. The third plane that was hijacked crashed into the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed into an open field near Shanksville. There were no survivors from any of the flights. Altogether, 2993 people died from the attacks, which the majority were civilians. In addition, some have died of lung cancer from the ploom of smoke that was caused by the collapse of the building.
However, there are some people who question this event. Did the building really collapsed due to one explosion from the plane? Did a plane really crash into the pentagon when there's no proof that it did? Why did some people in the World Trade Center say they heard more than one explosion in the building? Is it a coincidence that when you fold the American bills from $1-100, it creates a chronological picture that displays the event of 9/11? How come the world trade center collapsed as if it was a controlled demolition?
I for one, also questioned this event, and have done some research to find the answers. According to the news, three buildings in the World Trade Center Complex collapsed due to a structural failure on the day of the attack. I believe that a building can collapse due to one plane crash because not only did the plane cause a big explosion, it also left a huge hole in the building that took out at least three floors.
Now, there is no visual proof that a plane crashed into the Pentagon but, there were witnesses that saw it. The jet also knocked down the street lights on the highway before it hit the walls of the Pentagon. What else could've knocked down those street lights?
Some people might have heard more than one explosion in the buildings because an elevator had fell and crashed causing a loud explosion sound.
You can fold the American bills into whatever picture you can imagine. Whoever made up the pictures to display the event of 9/11 in chronological order only manipulated the images and make something look like something else. Some of the images on the bills are not detailed enough to confirmed that the buildings are the world trade center being under attack.
The reason why the two towers collapsed like it was a controlled demolition is because the intense fire from the explosion, soften the steel of the building, and caused a floor to collapse. When a floor collapses, the floor below it can't support the weight so that floor collapses too causing a chain reaction.
Some people might make up theories and get carried away with them thinking it's the right answer because it's different. But, I would never believe such crazy theories when there is no reasons behind them or when there is no proof it back them up.
Last year, I wrote a song and I found out that my song hit the charts. I was really shocked and happy at the same time. On the day I found out that my song hit the charts, I felt like it was a normal day and nothing changed. I started my day like my average usual day. I brushed my teeth, took a shower and got ready to eat breakfast. I walked out of my home and a swarm of people with cameras and microphones surrounded me. They all gave me an impression that they want to know and socialize with me as if I was their best friend. I couldn't see from all of the flashes of the huge photographer-like camera and the crowded people. It's kind of funny because every time I took a step, they all took the same step with the same direction as I did. So when I walked to my car, they all walked with me like they were my bodyguards. I got into my car and drove out to a restaurant that I liked to eat breakfast. Then, I noticed that those photographers were still following me in their car. Before I ate breakfast, the photographers were asking me questions that I can't answer for my own privacy. If I wanted to eat somewhere, I knew I had to eat at a fancy restaurant with great reviews so that I don't look like an average person going to McDonalds getting a McMuffin or something. So, I went to a restaurant called Lacastile which is not cheap but it has good food and a nice atmosphere. I ate at a small table that was meant for two person and the photographers were taking pictures of every bite I took from beginning to end. After I finished eating, I decided to go home because I was already tired. It wasn't because I'm a lazy guy, it's just that I wasn't use to having lights flashing at me every second. As I was driving home with the photographers on my tail, one of the drivers cut me off and slowed down in front of me. He slowed down so much that I had to stop in the middle of the road. The drivers, who were following me, blocked my car and got out to snap pictures of me behind the wheel. I stayed there for about five minutes and I finally decide that I'm just going to drive around the car in front of me by driving on the grass and back on the road. When I got home, they were looking through my windows and taking pictures of every move I make. I closed my window blinds and fell asleep on my bed. All I could think of was those flashes in my eyes. I woke up in bed and finally, everyone is gone. I went outside to get my daily magazine and the photographers came back! I slammed my door and opened up my magazine to see what was on it. I saw images of myself and writings that were highly exaggerated. I knew that I've always wanted this but it doesn't feel as good as I thought it would be. I have no privacy at all and I feel like I have to put a good impression in front of the cameras 24/7. I'm getting tired and exhausted. I have no idea how I'll continue my day tomorrow. I guess if I really want this, I'm going to have to get use to this.
